On Saturday night (4), during the gathering for Madonna’s long-awaited show on Copacabana beach, in Rio de Janeiro, a man was beaten and thrown into a garbage dumpster. A video circulating on social media shows the moment when at least three individuals drag the boy to a garbage dumpster.

As the man is forced into the dumpster, the attackers punch him in the face, while some onlookers at the scene scream in shock. The video ends with one of the attackers closing the lid of the dumpster, leaving the boy inside. See the video here.

The motivation behind the attack remains unclear, with some online publications suggesting that the man was an alleged thief, accused of robbing the singer’s fans who had gathered to watch the show. However, the veracity of these allegations has not been confirmed.

A Itatiaia requested clarification from the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, but so far has not received an official response about what happened.

Madonna in Brazil

Madonna’s show in Rio ended the tour “The Celebration Tour”, which marks the 40-year career of one of the greatest and emblematic artists in history. The presentation was the 82nd of the tour started in October last year, in London, England.

Madonna’s arrival in Brazil mobilized fans, Brazilian artists and companies, even counting on unprecedented flights to transport the Queen of Pop’s subjects to the city of Rio de Janeiro.

The pop queen’s historic performance brought together more than 1.6 million people, who watched the iconic artist in a megastructure for free. The stage is 812 square meters, with a 24-meter front and a direct height of 18 meters to the ceiling. The structure surpasses others already built on Rio beach, like the one that hosted a concert by The Rolling Stones.

O megashow held on the Copacabana waterfront marked Madonna’s return to the country after 12 years, with a setlist full of hits. The Queen of Pop’s last show in the country was held at the Morumbi Stadium, in São Paulo, in 2012.
