The Series A Sul-Mato-Grossense Championship concluded last Sunday (21), with the award-winning victory of Operário. At the same time, the Mato Grosso do Sul Football Federation (FFMS) is already starting to plan the next stage – series B – in partnership with the clubs involved. The future second state division is scheduled to be played from August to October, with the expectation of replacing the relegated Novo and Náutico in 2025.

On Monday (22), FFMS leaders, Francisco Cezário and Marco Tavares, organized a meeting with some clubs at the Federation headquarters, in Campo Grande. The meeting was attended by representatives from União ABC, Campo Grande and Comercial, all from Capital, Naviraiense, Sete de Dourados, São Gabriel and Operário Caarapoense. Iliê Vidal, president of Águia Negra, was absent, but justified his absence. However, other clubs, such as Maracaju, Três Lagoas SC, Misto de Três Lagoas and Ubiratan, who initially showed interest, did not comment.

According to Tavares, who is also the FFMS competition coordinator, the initial objective of the meeting was to provide guidance. “We discussed stadium reports, player registration procedures and other necessary documents, in addition to clarifying other pertinent questions from club leaders,” he explained.

Series B is scheduled to begin on August 10th and end on October 12th. Details of the format and basic schedule of the competition will be discussed at the Arbitration Council meeting in June.
