A character from The Simpsons who had been part of the series for three decades – or, more specifically, 35 years – has died. Before continuing, a warning: beware of spoilers.

Episode 15 of the series’ 35th season brought the death of Larry Dalrymple, an ever-present but very silent character. Dalrymple was most commonly seen when the story took the viewer to Moe’s Bar, where the character was a constant presence drinking in the background. See, below, the character next to Moe.

The Simpsons follows the dysfunctional family of the title, led by the couple Homer and Marge. In addition to teenager Bart, the two are parents to precocious Lisa and baby Maggie, and constantly deal with other figures from the small town of Springfield, such as neighbor Ned Flanders, bar owner Moe Szylak, and millionaire Mr. Burns.

On air since 1989, The Simpsons has aired more than 750 episodes. In Brazil, the series is available for streaming via Star+.
