And one of the reasons that would have led to – or at least intensified – the end of the band’s activities in 2019 is the complicated relationship between Kerry and vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, which apparently remains rocky to this day, as revealed by the guitarist during an interview with to Metal Hammer, replicated by Guitar, where when asked if they spoke again after the meeting was announced, Kerry responds simply and directly: “No”.
And when asked if he considers the lack of communication in this situation to be unusual, he said: “What’s common? There’s no rule book for these things. But it’s not like I’m mad at him or anything, we’re just very different people, and we become business partners at the end of the day. He has interests very different from mine, and very different perspectives. Does that make me hate him? No. But I don’t need to talk to him every day”.

Kerry makes it clear that, for him, this does not represent any kind of problem. “There’s nothing strange. We just don’t have much in common. When it comes time to rehearse, I’ll have no problem showing up. We’re professionals, and that’s what we do.”.
