Marcos Braz, Flamengo’s vice-president of football, has been incisive in his criticism of the Brasileirão calendar, especially regarding the games scheduled for 11 am. Last Saturday (04), after the match against Red Bull Bragantino, Braz not only questioned the refereeing but also the schedule of the games, expressing his dissatisfaction through social media. The absence of morning matches in the fifth round of the championship was ironic for him, who questioned the criteria for choosing the times.

In response, Cacau Cotta, Flamengo’s director of external relations, pointed out that such discussions should take place during the arbitration that defines the championship table. He argued that changes are complicated once the calendar is established, highlighting the need for daily work with the responsible institutions, such as CBF, Ferj and Conmebol.

The relationship between Braz and Cotta is clearly strained. The two leaders, who were once close, now face a deep split, this situation is made even worse by the possible candidacies of both for public positions in RJ. The differences have directly affected Cotta’s role at the club, as he was banned from traveling with the delegation and from entering the changing rooms on match days.

On the field, Flamengo faced challenges not only behind the scenes, but also in matches. The classic against Botafogo, held at 11am last Sunday (28), ended with a 2-0 defeat for Flamengo. The excessive heat was one of the points criticized by the team, highlighting concerns about the scheduling of the games.

— The game at 11 am is very exhausting. It’s very hot here. The Botafogo team also complained a lot. There are two teams from Rio that are used to the heat, but I think today the thermal sensation was too great. If the game had been at a different time it could have been betterstated Bruno Henrique last weekend.

In addition to the internal controversies and results on the field, Flamengo is preparing for its next match in the Libertadores. The team will face Palestino (CHI) this Tuesday (07), at 9 pm (Brasília time), in Coquimbo, Chile. This game is crucial for Rubro-Negro’s sequence in the continental competition.
