Itambé Minas took a big step towards the semi-finals of the Men’s Volleyball Super League. This Sunday (31), the team from Minas Gerais beat Guarulhos by 3 sets to 1 (27/29, 25/23, 25/20 and 32/30) at the Ginásio da Ponte Grande, in São Paulo. With the victory, the team can guarantee their place in the next match at home.
Despite the Minas Gerais victory, the match was very balanced. Three of the game’s four sets ended up being decided by the minimum difference, with two of them surpassing the 25-point barrier. Furthermore, the confrontation was highly controversial due to provocations between players on the court and shouts coming from the stands.
Starting the season with the unprecedented Campeonato Paulista title, Guarulhos started the Men’s Superliga at full steam and closed the first phase with the fourth best campaign. The São Paulo team scored 41 points with 14 wins in 22 games. Just below, Minas, current runner-up in the competition, finished. The miners only scored 34 points, winning 12 times.

However, if the São Paulo team wins, the series will be decided in the third game, held in São Paulo again.
