A Ferrari revealed this Wednesday, 1st, the special painting with shades of blue for the SF-24 model that will be on the track in Formula 1 Miami GP, played next weekend. The new addition to the cars driven by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz is a way of celebrating the company’s 70th anniversary in the United States.
The iconic red will remain dominant, contrary to the expectations of some fans. Still, there are blue details on several parts of the cars, from the sides to the tire hubcaps, front and rear wings. They will also display the company’s logo. HPa technology company that acquired the naming rights of the team, now called Scuderia Ferrari HP.
“The dominant color of the new title partner’s logo matches perfectly with the theme chosen by the Maranello brand for the week in Miami, that is, the return of the two colors of the past, Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino,” said the announcement.
The Azzurro La Plata is the official racing color in Argentina and was worn by Niki Lauda in his debut year at Ferrari. It also refers to Alberto Ascari, the team’s first Formula 1 world champion. The driver considered his blue overalls and helmet to be good luck charms and won the title in the 1952 and 1953 seasons.
The Azzurro Dino is a little darker. The shade was used by Clay Regazzoni in 1974, when he was runner-up in the world championship with the team. After this period, Ferrari adopted the official red color on the circuits.
By the way, the duo Leclerc and Sainz will also wear blue overalls. In addition, they will be presented with two sports cars in the same colors to travel to the Miami Gardens Circuit.
The Miami GP takes place between the 3rd and 5th of May. It will be the sixth stage of the season and the first of three held on American territory.
