Flamengo is close to eliminating its debts; in 2012, the value was close to R$800 million


At the end of 2012, Flamengo’s operating debt approached R$800 million. Currently, the value is close to being deducted. In the balance released by the club this Thursday (28), Rubro-Negro reported that the numbers are R$48 million.

Cutting the value of the debt from 2022 to 2023, the drop was 79%. In other words, in the balance sheet released last year, Flamengo had a debt of R$227 million. In this way, Rubro-Negro paid off R$179 million in one season. This was only possible thanks to the collection of more than R$1.3 billion in 2023.

DEBT REDUCTION IN LANDIM MANAGEMENT

The first year of Rodolfo Landim’s ‘management’ ended with a debt of R$466 million. In 2020, the club was unable to decline, despite the Brazilian title won on that occasion. After all, with the pandemic, pause in football and resumption without an audience, Flamengo lost box office revenue, among others. Therefore, it rose to R$585 million.

In 2021, Flamengo managed to reduce it to R$292 million. In the season before last, with the help of money coming from prizes for the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores titles, it fell to R$227 million. Finally, now, it has reached the R$48 million mark. A number unimaginable 12 years ago.

RECORD RECIPE

Despite the embarrassment on the field in 2023, Flamengo broke records in financial matters. After all, the club raised R$1.3 billion, the biggest achievement in the history of Brazilian football. A large part of this revenue came from the sale of players – R$303 million. For comparison purposes, Mengo took R$140 million in this segment in 2022.

According to the financial planning for 2024, Flamengo intends to repeat the mark of the last three years and overcome the billion barrier. Performance on the field can help, with possible Libertadores, Copa do Brasil and Brasileirão titles and the respective prizes. On the other hand, the Carioca Championship, in which Rubro-Negro is a finalist, does not give money to the champion.
