Gyori had a great game, opening up a six-goal lead in the first half, with the team leading 15-9 at half-time. In the second half, the Hungarian team knew how to manage the advantage to avoid a reaction from the Vipers. In the end, Gyori won by seven goals, putting them in a good position for the second leg. Next week, Vipers Kristiansand will have to win by at least eight goals to advance to the Champions League semi-finals.

Ana Gros was Gyori’s top scorer in the match, scoring six goals. On the Vipers side, Lysa Tchaptchet Defo was the team’s best striker with five goals scored. Bruna de Paula performed discreetly in the match, being little used. She made three shots at the goal, but failed to score.

The two teams will face each other again on May 4th in Hungary. Whoever wins advances to the final four of the women’s handball Champions League. The title matches will take place on June 1st and 2nd in Budapest.
