60 athletes- The Americana City Council held on Wednesday (27)
in the Dr. Antônio Álvares Lobo Plenary, a formal session to present the “Sports Highlights of the Year” award to the athletes who stood out in the municipality. The tribute was motivated by a draft legislative decree authored by the councilor of the 15th, 16th and 17th legislatures, Odair Dias.
The award was given to athletes who stood out in carrying out their activities in Americana in 2023, covering 61 male and female athletes, as well as coaches, sport managers and journalists. Participants were the president of the Municipal Chamber of Americana, councilor Thiago Brochi (PL), councilor Thiago Martins (PV), the municipal secretary of Sports, Márcio Leal, and the president of the Sports Commission of the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association) of Americana, Dr. Vito de Lião, as well as friends, guests and families of the honorees.
During the speech, the authorities praised the commitment and dedication of the athletes and congratulated those honored for their recognition. “It is an honor to welcome so many people to the Chamber who bear the name of the city of Americana. I know you have big challenges, many parents are here and know the difficulties they face in helping athletes. Sport teaches people to respect others, coexistence, only sport can provide this. On this special night, I ask God to continue blessing everyone with good health to continue seeking results and achievements”, said the president of the Chamber, councilor Thiago Brochi.

“I am very happy to see this House full of sports representatives from our city. Americana is a reference in the state and country in relation to sports infrastructure and we always need to invest in sports. We just have to thank you for all the fight, all the battle and support from your family so that you continue to believe in the sport”, said councilor Thiago Martins.
“It is a great honor to be in this House as sports secretary participating in this award ceremony. I see here several coaches and teachers who have led athletes to win medals in the name of Americana in state and national competitions. Americana sport has advanced and needs to advance further and I see it as a possible dream today to see athletes from our city competing in the Olympics”, said municipal Sports Secretary Márcio Leal.
