Miami (USA) – An extremely productive week, this is how Marcelo Melo from Minas Gerais defined his participation in the Miami Masters 1000 alongside Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The pair stopped in the quarterfinals against the 2nd seeds, Croatian Ivan Dodig and North American Austin Krajicek.
“It was extremely productive in several aspects. Especially the way I played with Edouard. I think we did very well, from the first game until the defeat now in the quarterfinals”, said Marcelo after the defeat in straight sets to Dodig and Krajicek, with partials of 7/6 (7-1) and 7/6 (7-4 ), in 1h51 of play.
“We faced very tough teams, with different ways of playing. I was able to play pretty much at my highest level. Edouard also said that he played practically at his best level. So this is very good for both of us. We are confident and know that we can still play like this”, added the double player from Minas Gerais.
Melo and Vasselin formed a partnership just for Miami. The Frenchman has a steady partner, his compatriot Nicolas Mahut, who was injured and unable to compete in Florida. In turn, the Minas Gerais native started the season alongside Dutchman Matwe Middelkoop, with whom he played six tournaments (Adelaide, Australian Open, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Rio Open and Santiago).
