Bars, restaurants and kiosks in Copacabana, in the South Zone of Rio, are already preparing for May 4th, when singer Madonna will perform on the beach, in front of the Copacabana Palace hotel, which no longer has rooms available. Just over a month to go, but planning is in full swing.

In the case of the Cabanna kiosk, one of the closest to the show location, extra employees will even be hired to keep up with demand. The owner of the establishment, Pedro Assy, explains that each ticket costs R$1,100, with free food and drink and a privileged view of the stage. But, unlike New Year’s Eve, the idea is to have a more relaxed and less formal atmosphere.

Other kiosks already have more than half of their spaces filled, with prices slightly lower. The CBN found, for example, reserves at R$800.

The president of the Union of Bars and Restaurants of Rio (SindRio), Fernando Blower, highlights that the sector is one of the most privileged for major events. According to him, both tourists and the locals themselves enjoy the gastronomy, which drives the economy.

A survey by the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur) shows that the arrival of international tourists in Rio is expected to grow 27.3%, compared to the same period in 2023. The expectation is that more than 1 million people will attend the Copacabana Beach for the Madonna show. At the moment, according to Embratur, almost 7,500 airline tickets have already been issued from other countries arriving in Brazil via Rio. The data is from the Forward Keys platform.

Representatives of the hotel sector are also excited, as stated by the president of the HotéisRio union, Alfredo Lopes.

As the show approaches, Madonna’s fans and admirers are already thinking about “looks” for the long-awaited day: t-shirts, shorts, crop tops, makeup, among other items. Rafael Froner, a lifelong fan of the singer, has an online t-shirt store and prepared a special collection for the presentation on Copacabana Beach. He said that futures have increased by more than 1,000% in recent days and this has already helped cover travel costs.

Some stores in Saara, in the center of Rio, also sell items related to Madonna. Others are still in “suspense”, but accept quotes.
