Rio de Janeiro City Hall released new information about Madonna’s show, which will take place on May 4th at Copacabana beach, in the South Zone of Rio. After much mystery and speculation, the singer’s arrival in the capital of Rio de Janeiro was confirmed in last Monday (25). The presentation, which will be free, will start at 9:45 pm.

The expected audience for the show by the Queen of Pop, who has not performed in Brazil for over 12 years, is more than one million people. The event will serve as a conclusion to “The Celebration Tour”, which celebrates Madonna’s 40-year career with some of her greatest hits.

Passes soar

Sales of bus and plane tickets to Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of May have grown exponentially since rumors of the singer’s arrival began.

The company Clickbus, which is a price comparison and online booking website for long-distance bus routes, for example, stated that there was an increase of more than 1,000% in searches for boardings on May 4th to Rio. The peak of searches on Clickbus took place on March 7th, according to verification by the company itself.

Latam Airlines said it saw an increase of around 30% in passenger demand for Rio de Janeiro between May 1 and 4, 2024.

Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes SA reported that it does not reveal data on increased demand.

However, the brand says that it is the company with the most complete offer of flights to the city of Rio de Janeiro and that, therefore, “it is closely monitoring the evolution of demand” and that, if necessary, it will increase the offer punctually.

Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileira also said that it does not disclose figures on increased demand for strategic reasons, however, the company stated that it created a temporary hub at Galeão International Airport to meet the demand for the Madonna show.

As a result, Azul alone will offer 436 flights operating at Galeão between May 1st and 7th, totaling more than 60,300 seats.

Azul also announced that the peak days will be May 3, 4 and 5, with more than 58% of Azul’s departures in the first week of the month.

If you add up all the terminals in which Azul operates in Rio de Janeiro, the company will have 870 movements (round trip) in the period, with an offer of more than 103 thousand seats.
