A military police officer slapped a 27-year-old woman in the face, suspected of beating her 11-year-old daughter in the city of Vitória de Santo Antão, in Pernambuco. The situation was recorded by people who were in front of the João Murilo de Oliveira Hospital, and had repercussions on social media this Saturday (27).
As soon as they arrived at the hospital, in an app car, the health unit workers noticed the mother’s reluctance to let the child leave the vehicle. As a result, the military police decided to approach the woman, but as soon as she got out of the car, she was surprised by the reaction of a police officer who responded to the incident.
This is because, after noticing the injuries on the child’s body, the police officer slapped the girl’s mother in the face. “Did you do this? You were the one who did that to her, weren’t you? Okay, you don’t like hitting, right? You do not like?” asked the police when he attacked the woman.
Discussion started at home
In another video, which shows the mother arguing with neighbors who were trying to help the child, it is possible to see several bruises spread across the girl’s arms and legs. Faced with the situation, people decided to call the Military Police and the city’s Guardianship Council.
According to counselor Alzenir Vasconcelos, the attacks occurred after the mother was woken up due to a fight between the girl’s two brothers. She also stated that, although there is no record of violence prior to this episode, the child stated that she had already suffered attacks before.
The child’s mother was arrested and charged with bodily injury resulting from domestic violence. Given the repercussion of the case, the corporation also took a position on the conduct of the military police officer, and stated that it “opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the police approach and take the necessary measures”.
