“They are bombing everything”, says survivor of Israeli attack on Gaza: 35,000 Palestinians are dead

The Israeli Army again intensified its attacks on the north of the Gaza Strip this Sunday (12), a region almost completely destroyed since ground operations in the territory began. The justification is that the terrorist group Hamas has reorganized in the region and seeks to reestablish its military capabilities there.
The action takes place amid expectations of an invasion of Rafah, a city in the south that serves as a refuge for millions of displaced Palestinians — and on the same date that the number of Palestinians killed exceeds 35,000 according to local authorities, linked to Hamas .
Israel sent tanks into Jabalia in the morning after a night of heavy shelling that reportedly killed at least 19 people and injured dozens more.
Local resident Saed, 45, told Reuters news agency that the attacks had not stopped since they began on Saturday (11). “They are bombing everything, including areas near schools where those who lost their homes are sheltering,” he wrote in a text message.
“The war has resumed, that’s what seems to be happening in Jabalia,” he said. “The new incursion forces many families to leave here.”
Jabalia is the largest of Gaza’s eight historic refugee camps. It is home to more than 100,000 people, most of them descendants of those who were expelled from the territory known as Palestine during the wars that involved the creation of the State of Israel, from 1948 to 1949.
In addition to Jabalia, Tel Aviv also sent tanks back to Al-Zeitoun, a suburb east of Gaza City, the main city in the strip before the conflict, and to another neighborhood in the city, Al-Sabra. In both locations, residents also reported heavy shelling that destroyed several homes, including multi-story residential buildings.
Israeli forces had claimed control of most of these areas months ago.
Meanwhile, Palestinians sheltering in the south continued to try to flee Rafah. Through social media, the NGO Doctors Without Borders announced that it had started to refer the last 22 patients it had in a hospital in Rafah to other facilities because it could no longer guarantee their safety.
UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, said on Sunday morning that around 300,000 of the 1.5 million people living in the city had fled it this week.
The announcement came hours after the Israeli government issued new orders requiring civilians to leave Rafah.
The determinations deepen fears that the Jewish State is preparing to invade the city despite warnings from the international community that an operation of this magnitude could lead to a humanitarian catastrophe.
Also on Sunday, an explosion and large columns of smoke could be seen from southern Israel. Meanwhile, tank-like military vehicles kicked up dust as they moved, accompanied by aircraft in the skies.
