Rio – Clothes, accessories, cosmetics and even designer coffee. These are some of the items that the mother and daughter, who have been living with five suitcases for almost three months at McDonald’s in Leblon, in the South Zone of Rio, display on social media.

Susane Paula Muratoni Geremia, 64, and Bruna Muratori Geremia, 31, make several posts on luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Jo Malone. All stores are in Ipanema, Leblon, or Copacabana, neighborhoods in the South Zone. Furthermore, they always write the captions and texts for publications in English.

In the highlighted posts, there are several photos of products that appear to have been taken inside the store. Furthermore, mother and daughter share images of coffees and sparkling wines they drink at the locations, appearing to have a good relationship with employees.

However, a former saleswoman at a Shopping Leblon store informed the DAY that mother and daughter are “marked figures” in the establishment. According to the woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, they went to the store weekly, went in, chose some pieces and tried them on. Then, they would consume the cake and coffee that are served on site, and leave.

Bruna and Susane continue to “stay” at MC Donald’s in Leblon. According to the police, there is no crime in the action, since they eat and pay for what is consumed on site. Fast food opens at 7am and closes at 5am. During the closing period, the pair waits sitting on the sidewalk.

Interviewed exclusively by DAY last Thursday (25), the day the case came to light, they reported that the money they have was sent by Bruna’s father, who lives in England. He knows the situation the two are going through, but none of the three see it as a problem. “People created a problem for me and my mother. We were resolving a situation. We are looking for a place to stay. This situation is common. There are no apartments. Or they put the price up there because of tourism, it’s too difficult. People want to make a profit.” Bruna and Susane hope to find a place to live so they can resume their normal lives.

The two also stated that in Europe and the United States the situation is common. “I found this whole story surreal. I don’t allow anyone to invade my life. I’m furious about these things,” said Bruna.

Defaults and eviction

Bruna denied rumors that she had been evicted from an apartment. “I made a deal with the owner. People don’t know me. I think people have to stop poking around. The more they snoop around, there will be lawsuits against them. If people are still asking if something happened, it’s a a lot of stupid people. It’s obvious that something happened”, he reported.

However, it appears that in 2017 the two were convicted by the Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Sul for non-payment of four months of rent, between August and November. The debt amounts to almost R$10,000.

In Rio de Janeiro, the first records are from 2019. There are at least three debts in both their names. In one of them, the Court condemned both and ordered their eviction, for accumulating a deficit of R$13,000. In another, the judge’s assessment was that it was a case of hyposufficiency, that is, they did not have the financial conditions to pay the debts.

According to Bruna, the processes that occurred in 2017 in Rio Grande do Sul and 2019 in Rio de Janeiro have already been resolved.
