The new horror film starring Sydney Sweeney is fulfilling its mission of scaring the public. ‘Imaculada’, which premiered in the United States at the end of March, became a topic on the networks and made several viewers vomit during screenings.

The feature film directed by Michael Mohan tells the story of Cecilia (Sweeney), a religious woman who is called to a convent surrounded by beautiful landscapes in the Italian countryside. The enchanting setting, however, becomes the stage for nightmare-worthy scenes when Cecilia is faced with a mysterious pregnancy and a series of dark events.

Twitter/X users reported nausea and other symptoms of discomfort while watching the most graphic moments of ‘Imaculada’.

“I literally just threw up in the theater watching ‘Immaculata’. I will never watch that movie again,” one person wrote. “In the final scene, I’m pretty sure a girl who was a few rows in front of me threw up,” another revealed. “I was in the theater watching ‘Immaculada’ and the couple in front of us started vomiting,” the third described, while someone else added: “I’m watching ‘Immaculada’ right now and I’m not strong enough for this. I’m sick. It’s too much for me”.

Despite the strong reactions, some viewers praised the production, recommending it, of course, only to those with a strong stomach. “Even though I was about to vomit and pass out at the end of the movie, I need to watch it again,” one of them said, also on the social network.

Sweeney, 26, isn’t just the protagonist of ‘Immaculata’. The actress, who made her name in Hollywood by starring in the series ‘Euphoria’, is also a producer of the film. Participating in the North American television program The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy, the celebrity revealed that she had auditioned for a shelved version of the same project when she was 16 years old.

Almost 10 years after the frustration that the film hadn’t “got off the ground”, Sweeney decided to take action.

“I called my agents and said, ‘I can’t get this script out of my head. What happened to it?’ Then I contacted the screenwriter and we wrote the plot to fit the story of a 25-year-old woman.”
