London, England) – Brazil will host Argentina in the reclassification for the Billie Jean King Cup, between November 15th and 17th. This was the result of the draw held at the headquarters of the International Tennis Federation, in London, this Tuesday. Whoever wins the duel will be entitled to compete in the world qualifier in February 2025, while the loser ends up relegated to the American Zonal.

This will be the ninth time that the teams have faced each other in the women’s tennis team competition, with four victories for each country. In the last meeting, in 2022, Brazil secured a 3-1 victory, with wins from Bia Haddad and Laura Pigossi, in the city of Tucumán, at their opponents’ home ground.

For captain Luiz Peniza, the home advantage will be decisive in ensuring victory in the South American rivalry. “Playing in Brazil is always very positive because we are close to our fans. Brazil and Argentina is a great classic and South American tennis will benefit from a great confrontation,” he highlighted. The location will still be defined by the Brazilian Confederation.

The repechage defined eight seeds, according to the updated BJK Cup ranking, and Brazil was indicated as seventh seed. The fact of playing at home follows the regulations, which provide for alternating venues for each direct confrontation between the same two countries.
