This Monday (1), Globo’s “Tela Quente”, brings the success of the national cinema “Bacurau”, from 2019. The western and science fiction film, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles, goes to air at 11:35 pm (Brasília time), after Big Brother Brasil 24.
In the plot, the residents of the small village in the Brazilian hinterland Bacurau discover that the community no longer appears on any map. Little by little, they notice something strange in the region: while drones fly through the skies, foreigners arrive in the city.
When cars become victims of gunfire and dead bodies begin to appear, Teresa, Domingas, Acácio, Plínio, Lunga and other inhabitants come to the conclusion that they are being attacked. What remains is to identify the enemy and collectively create a means of defense.
The feature film features Sônia Braga as Domingas; Udo Kier as Michael; Bárbara Colen as Teresa; Silvero Pereira as Lunga; Thomás Aquino as Acácio; Thardelly Lima as Tony Junior; Rodger Rogério as Carranca; Lia de Itamaracá as Carmelite; Wilson Rabelo as Plínio; and Karine Teles and Antonio Saboia as the outsiders.
In addition to winning six categories at the Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix, including Best Film, “Bacurau” also won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Festival. The film also received a nomination for the event’s main prize, the Palme d’Or.
