The intense rain that hit Rio Grande do Sul caused the cancellation of classes in several municipalities this Tuesday (29). At least 10 cities announced the suspension of activities in the municipal education network due to the damage caused by floods and flooding.

In Quaraí, on the Western Border, where four people are in public shelters and another 12 are homeless, classes were suspended in the rural area due to the damage caused by the rain.
In the Central Region, cities such as Ivorá and Agudo had to cancel school activities due to flooding that blocked roads and made school transport unfeasible. In Faxinal do Soturno, classes were canceled due to damage to interior roads and the forecast of more rain.
In Cachoeira do Sul, around 940 students will be affected by the suspension of classes in 13 schools, 10 in rural areas and three in urban areas. Sobradinho, in the Vale do Rio Pardo region, canceled classes in municipal schools, while Sinimbu suspended activities in municipal and state networks.
Santa Cruz do Sul also had activities suspended in the municipal network, due to structural problems caused by the rain. In Rio Pardo, municipal elementary schools will not have classes due to access difficulties, while some early childhood education schools have had their activities partially suspended.
In Vale do Caí, the municipality of Brochier canceled classes in the municipal network and at the Erni Oscar Fauth State High School. In Carlos Barbosa, three municipal schools canceled activities, while in the state network, three schools suspended classes in Lindolfo Collor, São Leopoldo and Monte Alegre dos Campos.
