In 2023, associated wholesale distribution companies in the Alagoas region achieved significant revenue, surpassing the R$10 billion mark, according to data from the Sector Panorama survey carried out by the Alagoano Wholesale Distributor Commerce Association (Acadeal).
The results were released during the celebration of Acadeal’s 33rd anniversary, which took place last Friday night, the 26th, in Maceió. The event was attended by associates and partners from the public and private sectors.
Currently, the sector has 126 associated companies, consolidating annual revenues of R$10.2 billion. These companies contributed significantly to the local economy, providing more than 54 thousand jobs both in the capital and in the interior of the state.
The research also reveals that Maceió holds the largest share of annual revenue, representing 48.3%, and is responsible for generating 28,735 jobs. In turn, the Agreste Region, with emphasis on Arapiraca, contributes 42.1% of the sector’s total revenue, totaling R$5.3 billion and generating 20,646 jobs.
The wholesale distributor trade plays a crucial role in the Alagoas economy, being responsible for a third of the state’s ICMS collection. This sector acts as an intermediary between industry and retail, supplying local commercial establishments with a variety of essential products.
Acadeal’s more than 120 member companies offer a wide range of products, including food, personal care items, construction materials and medicines, among others. Its role is essential to supply not only commercial establishments, but also to strengthen local commerce in all 102 municipalities in the state of Alagoas.
