The postponement of the CPNU (Unified National Public Competition) took everyone by surprise, but those registered understood that this was the best decision taken in light of the tragedy that the rain brought to Rio Grande do Sul.

Many also see the period as a plus to boost their studies. University professor Paula Severino Ibrahim, who teaches veterinary medicine at a college in Campo Grande, uses the time she has free to study online.

For her, the time will be used to improve her studies. Furthermore, she believes that the measure was sensible given the tragic scenario that took place in Rio Grande do Sul due to the torrential rains. To date, there have been 37 dead, 70 missing and hundreds of families homeless.

“Many would be harmed and this is the time to help each other in the face of a tragedy. It’s best to do it all together and safely above all, without being unfair to anyone.”

The postponement was announced and made official in minutes this Friday afternoon (3). During a press conference, Management, Esther Dweck, stated that within the next few weeks a new date will be announced.

The test would take place next Sunday (5) throughout Brazil. Experienced when it comes to competitions, public servant Marcus Paulo Mendonça, 34 years old, follows the same line of reasoning.

“I thought it was great, because the government had a humanist and macro vision. For those who study, they get another preparation period. The priority is the subject, not the competition”.

In Mato Grosso do Sul there are 34.4 thousand registered people distributed in Campo Grande, Dourados, Três Lagoas and Corumbá. In Brazil, there are 2.6 million candidates competing for 6,640 vacancies in 21 public bodies.

Despite not having created a study routine, university student Fernanda Benites, 26 years old, was also not discouraged by the postponement.

“I’m not preparing, I’m just going to do it for the sake of it, for experience. In a way, we now have more time, but what concerns us most is the state that Rio Grande do Sul is in, that is much more important than the competition”.
