Cities in Santa Catarina went on “high alert” for landslides and collapsing structures, according to a Civil Defense bulletin this Friday (3). The West region is the most affected by the rains that hit the South of the country.

In all, 20 cities recorded high volumes in the last 48 hours. In Seara, where it rained the least among the most punished areas in the state, it rained 100 millimeters during this period. A 61-year-old man died. He had disappeared on Thursday (2), when the car he was driving was carried away by the current.

According to the bulletin released this morning, two days ago, it rained 202 millimeters in Capinzal and 201 millimeters Piratuba. The volume per city is double that expected for the month of May across the state.

Capinzal and Piratuba are the municipalities most at risk for natural disasters, according to an alert from Civil Defense. In Capinzal, the structure of a house, which also housed a business, was “swallowed” by a crater that opened on Thursday (3). There is a risk of further collapses.

In the same region, Itá is on alert.

In the south of Santa Catarina, another region that is on alert, at least two municipalities are on alert, in addition to the cities that appear on alert and under observation for natural disasters.

Praia Grande, capital of the canyons and known for adventure tourism, and Araranguá decreed emergency situation due to floods and natural disasters.
