Units will be built in Caarapó, Chapadão do Sul, Coxim, Dourados, Iguatemi, Ponta Porã and Ribas
The Ministry of Health published the ordinance allocating R$ 1.1 billion for the construction of 500 new UBS (Basic Health Units), as part of the New PAC, for the Health axis. The amount of R$ 17 will be invested in Ceará .3 million, in the construction of 7 health units in the State.
The resources will be used to build units “from scratch” in the cities of Dourados (R$ 4,945,820.00); Chapadão do Sul (R$ 2,584,792.00); Caarapó (R$ 2,276,907.00); Cushion; Iguatemi; Ponta Porã and Ribas do Rio Pardo (R$ 1,881,388.00).
The selection criteria, without considering order of importance, used by the Federal Government were: greater socioeconomic vulnerability of the municipality; greater care gaps in Primary Care; low coverage rates of the Family Health Strategy and adherence to the Ministry of Health’s architectural reference project.
“This New PAC Health ordinance is another important moment in the resumption of family health. It represents more health centers with more Family Health teams, which is where SUS reception takes place most across the country. It also represents this large investment that is being made by the federal government to provide greater access to the population, with qualified care and structured UBS for the care of people and for the good work of health professionals”, highlighted the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade.
During the registration phase, which took place between October and November 2023, municipalities had to present some documents, such as a photo of the land intended for construction taken from different angles, allowing the entire site to be viewed (access main, sides and back and also document or certificate of ownership of the land.
The expectation of the Ministry of Health is that the commitment of resources for all works will be ready by June 30th, and that the first transfers will be made in 2024.
Dourados – UBS Parque Rincão I
The unit in Dourados, the second largest city in Mato Grosso do Sul, is expected to be built at Rua Jose Mauricio De Assis, 560, Bairro Parque Rincão. As a justification for receiving the resources for construction, the municipal health department informed the Federal Government that “the peripheral region of the city has suffered with the increase in population, especially in the aforementioned region, advancing in a disorderly manner”. Furthermore, he highlighted that the city has a “floating population of university students totaling 25 thousand students, with a proven increase of approximately 15,000 inhabitants”.
Chapadão do Sul – Central Family Health Strategy Unit
In Chapadão do Sul, the new unit will be built at Rua Belgium, 261, Loteamento Reserva das Nações. According to information from the municipal health department, the construction of the building is necessary because the current unit is operating in a building rented by the city hall.
Caarapó – Captain Vigário II Health Unit
The Caarapó unit will be built on Rua Fernando França Prates, at Residencial Capitão Vigário. According to the Executive’s request, the unit will serve the neighborhoods of Capitão Vigário 1 and 2 and Campo Dourado, benefiting a population of approximately 4,000 people. Furthermore, the construction of the new unit will enable “more humanized and comprehensive care” for residents.
Coxim – Marechal Rondon Health Unit
In Coxim, the new unit is expected to be built on Avenida Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Vila Bela neighborhood. According to the request, the unit will mainly serve residents of the Marechal Rondon neighborhood, which is experiencing population growth. According to the health department, the nearest unit is located in a distant location. As a result, the new unit will shorten the journey of people seeking care.
Iguatemi – Vila Nova Esperança Family Health Unit
The Iguatemi unit will be built on Avenida Lindolfo Martins Farias, Quadra 56-B, in the Central region, next to the Conisul Intermunicipal Consortium. In justification, the executive informed that the new unit will enable the readjustment of the coverage territory that serves residents of the neighborhoods Vila Nova, Vila Nova Esperança, Gelson Andrade Moreira Housing Complex, Jardim Élida Nogueira and Centro, which has a population of 5,171 people and which currently does not support the flow demand.
Ponta Porã – Jardim das Rosas Health Center
In the border region, the health unit will be built on Rua Rosa Amarela, Bairro Jardim das Rosas. Also justifying the population increase, the health department emphasized that the population of the neighborhoods has grown and continues to grow, increasing daily demand. With this, the construction of the unit will allow the expansion of the Family Health and Oral Health teams, increasing Primary Care coverage in places of greater social vulnerability.
Ribas do Rio Pardo – ESF Jardim Alvorada
In full population growth, the Ribas do Rio Pardo health unit is scheduled to be built on Rua Constâncio Barbosa, between Euclides and José Gregório streets, Bairro Jardim Alvorada. According to the Executive, the new venture will enable the adequate development of recovery, prevention and health promotion actions, acting directly and indirectly on the population’s disease process.
