-

Vaccines against dengue were made available, this Friday (3), for the 12 municipalities that make up the I Health Region of Alagoas. Thus, the Municipal Health Departments (SMSs) can now begin the immunization period for people aged 10 to 14 years.

According to the State Department of Health (Sesau), the announcement was made in a meeting with representatives of the 12 cities of the I Health Region, formed by Maceió, Flexeiras, Messias, Barra de Santo Antônio, Paripueira, Rio Largo, Satuba, Santa Luzia do Norte, Coqueiro Seco, Marechal Deodoro, Barra de São Miguel and Pilar.

The secretariats must define vaccination strategies, based on local realities and particularities.

The executive secretary of Health Surveillance at Sesau, Thalyne Araújo, highlighted that the arrival of the vaccines marks a new moment in the fight against dengue in Alagoas. “Vaccines guarantee clinical safety for the recommended population and are made available according to technical criteria established by the Ministry of Health.”

The state manager of Surveillance and Control of Communicable Diseases, Waldineia Silva, explained that the vaccine protects against the four types of dengue being produced from the attenuated virus.

“At first, children aged 10 to 14 will be vaccinated and must present an identification document, Vaccination Card and proof of residence which, in the case of children, must be in the name of the responsible adult”, he said.
