A two-year-old child died this Thursday afternoon (25) after being run over by a school van. The accident happened in the Amarante neighborhood, in Betim, in Greater BH.
The victim was returning from school when accidentally entered under the vehicle on the opposite side of the door without nobody see. When the driver started, the van passed over Ana Lívia Gomes Batista.
According to Military Police records, a family member left Ana Lívia at home to help unload another child — the victim’s cousin — from the vehicle. During this time, the victim left the residence and went under the van..
The driver told the PM what the vehicle stopped in front of Ana’s family house while a family member waited to pick her up. At the time, the other child was getting out of the van and neither the driver nor the family member saw that Ana Lívia had left the residence.
The child was run over and rushed by her family to UPA Teresópolis, in Betim, but he did not survive his injuries. The driver did not show any signs of intoxication.
