After dominating the news headlines after announcing the end of his cycle at Red Bull, engineer Adrian Newey expressed gratitude for the praise received by Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time champion, who will drive Ferrari from 2025, said he would like to have him in the Italian team. Diplomatic, the designer thanked the comments, but did not give any tips on which path to take in Formula 1.
“It’s very kind of Lewis Hamilton to say that. He is a great professional. I’m very flattered by his words, but right now, I need to take a break and then see what happens next,” commented Newey.
A key player in the six constructors’ titles and the seven drivers’ world titles won by Red Bull, Newey is one of the names most coveted by F-1 teams since he became free.
The designer’s uncertainty helps to increase speculation about its future. Newey’s departure from Red Bull, however, will be gradual, as he will still participate in some races until the end of this year.
