News 24 vans were delivered this Friday (26) by the State Government to act in the operationalization of the Cuida PE program. The cars will be used within the scope of the State Department of Health (SES-PE) to transport patients covered by the initiative who need to do exams, consultations or procedures in the state health network.

The vans will be supervised by 12 Regional State Health Departments (Geres)who also organize the transport of patients, initially, to the Pernambuco Specialized Care Units (UPAEs)

According to state management, the division of vehicles for Geres followed criteria of geographic size and population, in addition to the scheduling quotas for each city and the vision of Integrated Regional Planning (PRI), allowing a similar amount to be allocated to each of the four Health Macroregions.

The division by macro-region was as follows: 2 vans in the I, II and III Geres, each, and 1 for the XII Geres, totaling 7 vehicles for the I Macro-region. IV and V Geres will each receive 3 units, totaling 6 vans for II Macroregion. For III Macro, 6 means of transport were allocated, 3 for VI Geres, 1 for X Geres and 2 for XI Geres. Finally, 5 vehicles will be sent to IV Macro, 1 to VII Geres, while VIII and IX Geres will receive 2 units each.

“Through the Cuida PE program, we are delivering the vans to guarantee the State’s structure in providing the best service to patients. They will be able to have their exams, surgeries and consultations, having the right to reach their destination and return home with peace of mind. Our objective is to ensure greater citizenship and dignity for our patients and to be able to reduce queues in our healthcare network”highlighted Governor Raquel Lyra.

“When we talk about Cuida PE, we don’t just talk about elective surgery, we also talk about exams, procedures and we know that there is a very high absenteeism in the units because municipalities have difficulty in making transport viable. So we will optimize and better use the resources that already exist in specialty units, in UPAEs and in regional hospitals for surgeries”, highlighted Health Secretary Zilda Cavalcanti.

Procedural perspective

They are expected, in 2024, 19,312 surgical proceduresin 26 units managed by the State, in addition to 27,350 in 58 municipalities that joined the National Queue Reduction Program, reaching a total of 46,662 surgeries by the beginning of 2025.

This year alone, R$ 55 million were invested in Cuida PE, 59% of which came from municipal management and 41% from state management.

SES-PE, in 2023, performed 11,041 surgical procedures in the State of Pernambuco. The 39 municipalities accredited in the National Queue Reduction Program, at the time, carried out 19,811 operations.
