In an operation on the sands of Copacabana Beach, GM seized more than 100 irregular objects, such as knives – Rio City Hall

Municipal guards from the Beach Operations Subgroup (SGOP) carried out, this Friday (26/4), an urban planning operation on Copacabana Beach, in the South Zone of Rio, which resulted in the seizure of over 100 irregular products. Among the objects seized were 16 knives, 20 glass bottles, a stove, a gas cylinder and 95 glasses.

The guards also instructed around 40 stallholders about the ban on the sale and supply of food and drink in glass containers on Rio’s beaches, which has been in force since March. The use of glass containers poses risks to the population, if they are discarded incorrectly on the beach sand, which can cause serious injuries.

SGOP operates daily on the city’s beaches, focusing on monitoring municipal attitudes, protecting beaches and vegetation, and also ensuring the safety of visitors.
