Last Tuesday (23), the State Secretariat for Public Security promoted an action to combat violence in a public school in Igreja Nova. The initiative, which included the participation of the Prevention and Hotline managers, aimed to raise awareness among students and reinforce the support channels available.

The Frei Arnaldo Motta e Sá Municipal School, located in the Carlos Antonio Brito Borges complex, was the stage for this important preventive action. During the event, Public Security agents gave lectures and promoted dialogues with students, addressing topics such as bullying, drug prevention, violence against women, vandalism and possible attacks within the school environment. Furthermore, soldiers from the School Police Battalion (BPEsc) were present, guiding teachers and students on the school and police’s competencies, as well as the correct procedures in the face of violent situations.

More than 200 students participated in the action and received information about the available help channels, such as Hotline and Alerta Celular. According to Eliane Araújo, head of Hotline, the objective was to transform students into multipliers of knowledge about the work carried out by the police, strengthening the relationship between the school community and the security forces.

Captain Alex Acioli, head of SSP’s Community Police Coordination, emphasized the importance of this preventive work and announced that other actions should be carried out in schools in Igreja Nova and other locations. The partnership between SSP, the State Department of Education (Seduc-AL) and other entities aims to ensure greater safety in the school environment and contribute to reducing crime rates in Alagoas.

Through the Virtual Occurrence Book (LOV), which will be launched soon, the authorities intend to systematize the data and develop integrated actions to combat violence in schools. The initiative has the support of several bodies and aims to promote the safety and tranquility of the population of Alagoas.
