In other words, a certain substance that causes symptoms in healthy people could be used as a medicine in people who are suffering from the same symptoms. Hahnemann believed that the symptoms of a disease would mainly be those that could be seen externally in a person.
The principle of dilution establishes that substances effective for healing, according to the principle of similarity, would have their effects enhanced the greater their dilution.. Dilution would be putting the main substance in contact with other substances, until the main substance was almost undetectable.
From the analysis of these principles, many researchers organized scientific thinking that was completely contrary to homeopathy. They argue that, although homeopathy is a very popular method, with the support of many doctors around the world, it is still a method based mainly on psychological and sociocultural aspects.
Furthermore, these researchers understand that homeopathy is supported by a placebo effectthat is, people who choose homeopathic treatment firmly believe in its benefits to the point that these positive effects actually occur clearly, even if the substances present in homeopathic remedies are not capable of acting in the body and combating the disease.
As you have already noticed, the debate about the use of homeopathic remedies is quite complex. Therefore, I want to emphasize that we must all build a critical analysis on the topic. This is not about combating, in an unethical way, the favorable stance towards homeopathy on the part of many people and health professionals. The idea would be to respect this position, while making public some aspects already substantiated on the topic.
