Umari Dam reaches 98.25% of capacity; 17cm left for bleeding

The third largest dam in Rio Grande do Norte, Umari, in Upanema, is 17cm away from bleeding. The information was confirmed by the Rio Grande do Norte Water Management Institute (Igarn), which indicated 98.25% of the reservoir’s capacity. The Santa Cruz do Apodi and Armando Ribeiro Gonçalves dams are close to 80%.

According to Igarn, Rio Grande do Norte has 74.23% of the potential accumulation of its surface water reserves. The current volume is 3,357,461,514 m³, while the total capacity is 4,438,663,499 m³.

In the Armando Ribeiro Gonçalves dam, with a capacity of 2,373,066,000 m³, there are 1,861,333,801 m³ of water inside the reservoir, equivalent to 78.44%, the highest volume since 2012. In Santa Cruz do Apodi, the volume is also the largest in 12 years, with 79.75% of capacity, which corresponds to a volume of 478,289,100 m³ of water.

In Umari, which has a capacity of 292,813,650 m³, the current volume is 287,685,135 m³ of water, corresponding to 98.25%.
