Book brings together testimonies from mourners Photo: Disclosure

Saturday, May 4th, will be very literary at the Vila Rainha Cultural Fair, held on the premises of Casa da Cultura Bento Costa Júnior. Opening the month, Fundação Rio das Ostras de Cultura will present, in addition to the traditional exhibition of artisanal works and gastronomic options offered to the public, the launch of the book “Mournings”, by Marcia Noleto and Mariana Guimarães, at 3pm.

This book deals, very delicately, with the grieving process, considering its plurality and revealing that there are many types of pain when losses are significant. Even though we have the feeling of being immersed in our private solitude, the work shows us the opposite. There is a universe of people who try every day to find new ways to restart their lives after moments of loss.

In this sense, the organizers bring testimonials from several different bereavements. The maternal, the masculine, the announced, the political. Neonatal and gestational grief. Grief for infertility, for disappearance, for the loss of an animal. The tragic, loving mourning of the trans person, the family, the immigrant, God, a future, a country. Mourning for violence, for Covid-19, for suicide. By giving voice to these unique experiences, we can connect with them and thus find ways to work through our suffering.

The launch will feature the presence of Daniel Carvalho, author of the chapter “Silêncio”, in which, through his story and experience as a bereaved father, he proposes a dialogue with a topic that is so little talked about or discussed: man’s grief. The book also features texts by Camila Alves, Chico Alencar, Eduardo Medeiros, Eliane Arenas, Fernanda Chaves, Gilberto Gil, José Mauro Brant, Jovita Belfort, Leandro Frederico Marques, Lucinha Araújo, Márcia Noleto, Marcus Vinícius Pavan, Margareth Pretti Dalcolmo, Mariana Magalhães, Monica Benicio, Victor Meneses and Willams Amaral Nogueira.

It is worth remembering that from 2pm to 6pm, artisans will exhibit their products and work to the population, who will be able to purchase unique and differentiated pieces from various artists, from the most varied segments, ranging from crafts to artisanal gastronomy, including Culture Geek, popular, fine arts and nostalgia.

Anyone can participate as an exhibitor or attraction at the event. To do this, artists and culture makers must join the group in their segment, using the QRcode available on Cards, and in the bio of the @froc.oficial page on Instagram, through Link-tree. Interested parties can also contact Aline Barbosa (22) 98123-5205 or Rodrigo Pontes (21) 99923-4234.
