This Tuesday afternoon, the 23rd, echoes images of an operation by the Municipal Department of Transport and Traffic (DMTT) against drivers who committed traffic irregularities on Ladeira do Bonfim, which connects Jacintinho to Mangabeiras. In the images, the agents get involved in a dispute with the driver of a motorcycle, who had his vehicle impounded for parking in a prohibited location.

In the images, the rider climbs the tow truck and removes his motorcycle, until he is knocked down by an SMTT agent. A woman accompanying the driver tries to intervene. The entire action was recorded by cell phone cameras.

The Military Police were called and the owner of the motorcycle was taken to the Flagrant Center. There is no information on the developments of the incident, as the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) is not publishing its daily bulletin. It is not possible to say whether the pilot was accused of a crime or if anything was registered against the agent.

Through its advisory services, DMTT stated that: “The Municipal Department of Transport and Traffic (DMTT) of Maceió removed a motorcycle caught parking in a prohibited location, on Ladeira Bonfim, in the Mangabeiras neighborhood.

During the agents’ action, with the vehicle already on the tow truck, a man tried to remove the motorcycle and was prevented from doing so.

Teams from the Municipal Guard and Military Police were called and the motorcyclist was taken to the Flagrantes Center.

The DMTT informs that it will initiate an internal procedure to investigate everything that occurred during the action.

The agency also emphasizes that “confronting a public official constitutes a crime that can result in arrest, in addition to a fine”.
