The 2024 Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) due date was changed and the payment deadline for April this year was extended, now occurring on a single date on the last business day of the month. In other words, the due date for all license plates will be April 30th.
On the same date, the fourth installment of the IPVA expires. Taxpayers who are paying the tax in stages through Pix need to be aware and generate a new QR Code every month to pay the installment. To maintain the installment plan, payments must be made within the stipulated deadlines.
Delay in paying IPVA implies payment of a fine of 0.33% per day, up to a limit of 20%, plus interest. There is also the possibility of enrolling the taxpayer in active debt after two months of default. In addition to the higher cost of paying the IPVA, the driver who misses the deadline and is caught in circulation You may have your vehicle seized and pay the costs of fines, towing services and DetranRS deposit.
Discounts
Until the due date, drivers will be able to take advantage of the Bom Driver and Bom Cidadão discounts, the reduction of which can reach 20% of the tax value, if the taxpayer enjoys the maximum quota of each benefit.
Bom Driver, for example, reduces up to 15% of the tax for those who have not committed a traffic violation for three years. The Bom Cidadão program offers a 5% discount to anyone who has at least 150 invoices with CPF issued between November 1, 2022 and October 30, 2023.
IPVA website and application with gov.br authentication
Aiming to increase user security, access to services available through the IPVA RS website now occurs only through the gov.br login, the same used to access federal government services. With the change, users who need to check the tax amount or generate the QR Code for payment will automatically be sent to the federal registry.
The IPVA RS application can be downloaded or updated for mobile devices from the Play Store (Android) and the App Store (iOS). For use on a computer or notebook, it is possible to access the website and use its services from the gov.br account login. Silver or gold seals are required. To check the IPVA value or generate the QR Code, you must access the website, using the gov.br login authentication. The State government does not send IPVA collection links or invoices.
