Defendant who killed a man asphyxiated and hid the body was sentenced to 13 years in prison under an initial closed regime. The crime took place in October 2022 in Galvão, West of SC, and involved the participation of a teenager. The victim’s body was never found.

The man was convicted of qualified homicide, for futile reasons and use of asphyxiation, and for hiding a corpse.
According to the complaint, in the early hours of October 6, 2022, the killer was at his ex-partner’s house alone with her daughter. That’s when the other man went to the scene and said he would tell the defendant’s ex-wife that he had a relationship with the teenager.
According to the MP, the girl was not the man’s daughter and it was with the threat that the attacks between the three began. The girl hit the victim with a broom and the attacker squeezed his neck until he died.
Body wrapped in sheet
The victim’s body was wrapped in a sheet and, with the help of the teenager, the corpse was placed inside the ex-partner’s car. The dead man was taken to an unknown location.
The victim’s body has not been located to date. The MP explains that the defendant indicated several different locations regarding his possible whereabouts, however, he was not found. The teenager reported that she did not follow when the attacker disposed of the body.
Appeal available
The sentence can be appealed, but the court denied the defendant the right to appeal freely. According to the MP, she served a socio-educational hospitalization measure for almost six months and is currently on assisted release.
