The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said this Tuesday (April 23, 2024) that one of those responsible for the invasion of Siafi (Integrated Financial Administration System), a National Treasury system used for payments for the federal government’s budget execution, has already It was identified.
“It seems that one of those responsible has already been identified, but I don’t have a name, nothing like that, because the investigation is being carried out under secrecy, precisely to prevent things from coming to an end”he said.
Siafi was hacked in April. The PF (Federal Police) investigates the case and finds out whether there was a misuse of resources. The suspects have not yet been identified. Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) also participates in the investigations.
On Monday (April 22, 2024), Haddad said that the invasion was carried out by “someone who already had access” to the tool and that it would not be done through a hacker attack.
In a note, the Treasury stated that “all necessary measures have been taken” in relation to investigation and initiatives to avoid new situations like this.
According to the agency, the problem was due to “an improper use of irregularly obtained credentials”.
