Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior signed, this Tuesday (23), the work order for the paving of PR-092 in Doutor Ulysses, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. 11.95 kilometers will be paved at the exit of the municipality towards Cerro Azul, providing greater safety and agility for drivers traveling along the stretch.

The work will meet a historic demand for Doutor Ulisses, which will have its first asphalt connection to other municipalities. “We are going to start making a dream come true for the population of Doutor Ulysses, which will now have an asphalt connection with Cerro Azul. This will bring development to the region, which has been greatly harmed throughout history due to not having this paved connection”, stated the governor.

The State Government’s investment is R$56.9 million. The company that will carry out the project won a bid made under the Integrated Contracting Regime (CI), which covers the preparation of the basic project, the executive engineering project and the execution of the work. It is expected to be completed by 2026.

“Asphalt brings dignity and development to cities. Drivers can have a safer journey, the roads now have the capacity to transport production, transport students and ambulances. That’s why we are working to eliminate this problem”, stated Ratinho Junior.

The Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Sandro Alex, explained that the basic project has already been done and the executive project will be finalized in the next four months. “Next, we start with the work.”, he said. “Asphalting brings development to regions like this, bringing with it more jobs and income. This is our commitment,” he said. The State Government’s plan is for the other sections of the highway to be put out to tender as the work on this first part of the road progresses.

CONNECTION – Doutor Ulysses is one of the last cities in Paraná without an asphalt connection. In addition, Mato Rico and Guaraqueçaba do not have asphalt roads. In Mato Rico, however, paving work on the connection with Pitanga is already advanced, with more than 30 kilometers paved. In Guaraqueçaba, on the Coast, the State is analyzing the environmental impacts to prepare the feasibility study. In 2021, Coronel Domingos Soares, in the Southwest, another municipality that lived in the same situation, also had its first asphalt connection inaugurated.

“Today our city does not have large companies precisely because they are unable to transport their products to other municipalities. We have already had interested parties who gave up because of this. Now everything will change for the better”, stated the mayor of Doutor Ulysses, Moisés Branco da Silva.

This Tuesday’s signing is historic for those who have known the region for decades. This is the case of farmer Francisco Jorge, 102 years old, born and raised around the city. “They’ve talked about this road many times, but they’ve never done anything. Now it’s going to come out and it’s going to bring a lot of benefits to the city,” he said.

CONSTRUCTIONS – The section between km 117.8 and km 129.8 will be paved. The lane will be 7 meters wide, with two 3.5 meter lanes, in addition to 1.5 meter shoulders on each side of the highway. The work will be on semi-rigid pavement, which is made in four layers, ensuring the strength and durability of the asphalt: a subgrade reinforcement layer, base and sub-base layers in cement soil, a double layer of asphalt binder and a final layer of Hot Machined Bituminous Concrete (CBUQ) coating.

The stretch will also have vertical and horizontal signage, shelters for bus stops, planting of vegetation, metal fenders at the most winding points of the track, drainage devices such as gutters, manholes, water drops and a cellular gallery to drain water from frequent rains. that affect the region.

URBAN PAVING – Doutor Ulysses is also among the municipalities covered by the Asfalto Novo, Vida Nova program. The city received R$4.4 million from the State Government to pave urban roads and install LED street lighting, which should eliminate dust and mud in around 80% of the municipality. In return, the city hall will invest R$73,600 in urban paving in the city.

In 2019, DER/PR also completed paving work on a 910-meter stretch of the municipality’s urban perimeter, with interlocking concrete blocks, known as pavers. The investment was R$2.9 million.

ATTENDANCE – State deputies Alexandre Curi, Hussein Bakri, Adão Litro and Artagão Junior were present at the event to sign the work order for the work; and the mayors of Cerro Azul, Patrik Magari; de Itaperuçu, Neneu Artigas; from Tunas do Paraná, Marco Antônio Baldão; and from Rio Branco do Sul, Karime Fayad.
