The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) maintains a state of alert for intense rain in Central-North Brazil between this Wednesday and Thursday (4). The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to favor the formation of heavy clouds in the region.

According to the yellow alert published by Inmet, rain of between 20 and 30 mm/h or up to 50 mm/day, intense winds (40-60 km/h) are expected. Low risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges. The warning is valid for areas in the Center-West, center-north of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo and the entire Matopiba region.

According to data from the Cosmo model, the tendency is for it to continue raining in these areas until the end of the week, with emphasis on isolated points in Matopiba that may receive the most significant volumes.

As for the South of Brazil, a new round of rain is predicted to change the weather conditions in Rio Grande do Sul from Thursday (4). The southern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul may have accumulations of over 60mm. The model also shows the system’s progress towards areas of the state, but without the strength to reach Santa Catarina and Paraná.
