The presenter sued the broadcaster after 19 years working at the company

In July 2023, Janine Borba was fired from Record after 19 years dedicating herself to the broadcaster’s journalistic programs. Almost a year later, the former anchor opened a legal case against Edir Macedo’s company.

Last Thursday (25), the action was filed at the 51st Labor Court of São Paulo. According to the F5 website, the court scheduled a conciliation hearing between Janine Borba and Record. The journalist requests recognition of her employment relationship with the broadcaster, in addition to alleging that she faced difficulties in her relationship with her superiors, especially in her last years at the company. In total, she is asking for R$2.5 million in compensation.

In July last year, Janine Borba was cut in a major “witch hunt” promoted at the time, aiming to alleviate a loss of R$500 million that the broadcaster suffered in 2022. The former anchor was responsible for presenting the afternoon edition of Jornal da Record, but he was also in charge of Fala Brasil and Domingo Espetacular.

In 1995, he began his professional career as a reporter for Jornal da Band. In 2004, she was hired by Record and presented, alongside Paulo Henrique Amorim, Tudo a Ver. The journalist asked to leave the project and was reassigned to a new phase of Fala Brasil, and a year later she headed Jornal 24 Horas.
