April arrives bringing a special program at Teatro Amazonas with the Season of Artistic Corps which, as the name announces, brings the Artistic Corps of the Government of Amazonas performing, sometimes in solo flight, sometimes together on stage, to perform great shows.

For the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz, the Artistic Corps Season is an opportunity to bring Artistic Corps closer to the general public. “The Artistic Corps of the Government of Amazonas are artistic groups of excellence whose quality is recognized locally, nationally and internationally. With this season, the public has the opportunity to see high-quality shows with the performance of these local groups that have already enchanted Amazonas, Brazil and the world for decades”, he declares.

The programming for the Season of Artistic Corps begins this Thursday (04/04), with the Amazonas Filarmônica presenting the “Orchestral Guide for Young People”, which features Franz Joseph Haydn in its repertoire with his “Symphony n.82 in C major , Hob.I:82 ‘The Bear’” (1786), in addition to Benjamin Britten, with the “Orchestral Guide for Young People, op.34” (1946) and Maurice Ravel, with his famous “Bolero” (1928). The show is conducted by maestro Marcelo de Jesus. And the indicative rating is 10 years.

On Saturday (04/06), the Amazonas Folklore Ballet will give another presentation of the choreography “Os Catraieiros”, which pays homage to a class of workers that was once very present in the life of Manaus, but that was practically extinct over time: the catraieiros. They provided important transport and crossing services from one side to the other of the city’s streams, with their catraias. There was a need to cross the streams, as there were no bridges that connected the neighborhoods to the old Historic Center of the capital. Classification is free.
