Ian and Samuel competed in an all-Brazilian heat, number 5 in the stage, which lasted 35 minutes. Mateus Herdy started active and in five minutes he had 4.00 and 6.50 points. Ian opened with 4.67 and Lucas Silveira had poor scores in his first three presentations.

Samuel debuted in the heat at 13 minutes and with three maneuvers he scored 6.67 points. Ian surfed the next right in the same series and remained in second place with a score of 5.67 points. Samuel took the lead in the 19th minute. The surfer had second priority when he performed seven maneuvers to earn 7.83 points.

The heat got complicated for Mateus and Lucas with 8 minutes to go. Ian used priority and went in search of the 4.84 points he needed to jump from third to second position. The surfer crashed and accelerated to fly in reverse. The performance was worth 8.73, the highest score of the entire Tuesday in Australia, and he left Mateus needing 7.81 to advance and Lucas needing 9.50 to not be eliminated.

Mateus lost his tune like the sea after the initial two waves and didn’t leave third position. Lucas continued fighting, but did not exceed 4 points and also said goodbye to the event. Samuel and Ian still improved their sums. Samuel also reached the excellent criteria with 8.10 and won the contest with the highest total of the day, 15.93 points. Ian scored another 6.07 and moved into second place with the second highest score on Tuesday, 14.80 points.

João advances with David – João Chianca and Deivid Silva advanced together in the second heat of Round 3. Deivid arrived halfway through the heat in first place, but João took the lead soon after, at 20 minutes. Until that moment, the athlete had surfed just one wave, rating 5.33, and gained another 6.67 points. Australian Jarvis Earle also played and played Deivid into third place. The Brazilian needed 4.10 to advance.

Deivid used priority with 5 minutes to go and despite falling in the fifth maneuver, he scored 5.93 points and moved into second place. Jarvis threatened the turnaround with 5.73 when he needed 6.16, but he didn’t leave third place. The Brazilians even changed notes near the final minute. João scored 6.30 and confirmed the victory. Deivid achieved 6.10 and advanced in second place. Jarvis (3rd) was eliminated with Mihimana Braye (4th). The Tahitian fought hard, but made bad wave choices and didn’t get beyond 4 points.

João Chianca advances to the round of 16.

Alejo Muniz was another Brazilian who advanced with victory. He competed together with Jadson André in the sixth competition. Australian Jacob Willcox arrived strong in the middle of the contest with scores of 7.83 and 6.33 points. Until that moment Jadson was in second place, Alejo in third needing 6.15 and Mexican Alan Cleland in fourth needing 10.97 to advance to the round of 16.

The heat started to improve for Alejo with 12 minutes remaining. The Brazilian performed impressive maneuvers to win 7.77 points and take second place. Jadson now needed 6.44 to stay alive in the stage. Alejo also changed grades twice and the last time he jumped to first place with a score of 6.43 points. Jadson continued acting, but came in third place and said goodbye to the event. Alan (4th) also said goodbye to the race.

Alejo Muniz advances with victory.

The day ended with a Brazilian victory. Michael Rodrigues started strong with 6.50 and 5.00 points. Almost halfway through the race he lost the lead to Hawaiian Ian Gentil, who had 7.50 and scored another 5.27 to come first. Michael made a series of attempts until on his eighth wave he scored another 6.47 to get back to the top. Six minutes from the end, the Brazilian put another 7.43 on the scoreboard and secured the victory.

Australian George Pittar rose from last to second place after gaining 7.67 points with 3 minutes remaining. Ian still tried to reverse the situation, but came third in the duel and was eliminated along with the North American Dimitri Poulos (4th).

Michael Rodrigues closes the fourth day of the Gold Coast Pro 2024 with victory.
