Those interested in participating in the online public consultation regarding the public transport service concession process in Greater Aracaju should pay attention to the deadline, which will end next Friday, April 5th.

The consultation aims to receive contributions from society to the initial proposal for the public transport bidding notice, according to the schedule defined by the Metropolitan Consortium, which is formed by the municipalities of Aracaju, Nossa Senhora do Socorro, São Cristóvão, Barra dos Coqueiros and the Government of State.

Mayor Edvaldo Nogueira highlights that the entire process is being conducted in a democratic and transparent manner. “That’s why we are inviting the entire population to participate and contribute effectively to the preparation of the final version of the document, giving their opinion, answering questions and making suggestions. Our idea is that, together, we can achieve the public transport system that citizens deserve. Access is very easy: you go to the City Hall website, click on the banner and do your part in this process, which will be historic for our urban mobility”, says the capital manager.

In parallel with this stage of consultation with society, Mayor Edvaldo Nogueira, in order to increase the transparency of the process, delivered the initial proposal for the public transport bidding notice to supervisory bodies, such as the Public Ministry of the State of Sergipe (MPSE), Aracaju City Council, Sergipe State Court of Auditors (TCE-SE) and also the Sergipe Court of Justice (TJSE), “all to further guarantee the smoothness of the process”, highlights Edvaldo.

As explained by the executive director of the Metropolitan Consortium and municipal superintendent of Transport and Traffic of Aracaju, Renato Telles, through this public consultation the population can send contributions, questions and suggestions, which will be analyzed by the consortium in conjunction with the National Association of Public Transport (ANTP).

The SMTT manager also explains that a new meeting of the Consortium is scheduled for April 15th, at which time the balance of contributions will be presented to the mayors of the four municipalities and the State governor, in addition to discussing the changes to the notice. According to the schedule, on the 22nd, the notice must be published for broad competition from interested companies across Brazil.

“The website makes the data available for public consultation with all the information for the bidding process of the notice, the annexes for broad transparency for the general population, for companies, so that scholars can appropriate this information, send suggestions, criticisms, comments from documents that are available”, details Renato Telles.

In a meeting held on March 19, the Metropolitan Public Transport Consortium defined the parameters for the bidding, including time requirements for fleet renewal and division into lots.

Among the measures already adopted by the Consortium are the fare freeze and the granting of a subsidy by the capital’s city hall for public transport in the metropolitan region, which serves 170 thousand users daily, totaling 3.5 million passengers per month.
