A man wanted for robbery, criminal association, corruption of minors, extortion through kidnapping and homicides died after an exchange of gunfire with the Military Police. The case happened in the municipality of Sapeaçu, Recôncavo da Bahia, this Tuesday (2).

The “letters” contain information such as name, nickname, area of ​​activity and photo of the suspects, in order to facilitate the registration of anonymous complaints.

Gene was considered one of the department’s priority targets.

Investigations indicated that he led a criminal group operating in the state. According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), he was located in a property in the rural area of ​​the municipality.

Still according to the SSP, during the attempted arrest, the man shot at military police officers, there was a retaliation, and an armed confrontation.

Gene was hit by gunfire, received medical aid, but succumbed to his injuries, the Public Security Secretariat reported.

A 556 rifle, a Turkish-made 9 mm pistol, 59 rounds of ammunition, as well as cocaine, marijuana and a theft-restricted car were seized.

The action was part of “Operation Gallop”, launched by the Specialized Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic).

The operation also had support from the Coordination of Special Operations and Resources (Core) and the Military Police Intelligence Operations Command.
