In yet another masterful performance, Gabi Moreschi can say that she was directly responsible for Bietigheim’s victory in the women’s handball Champions League. And without scoring a single goal in the opponent’s goal. In the week that celebrated goalkeeper’s day, the Brazilian showed once again that there is beauty in defending. Thus, the German team takes an important step towards securing a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
April 26th is Goalkeeper Day, that “crazy” character in the game who agrees to take a hit to help her team. In the case of handball, the shots are always at close range, so the craziness seems even greater. But, as athletes choose this position based on talent and reflex and not out of insanity, Gabi Moreschi is the purest example of competence.
Then, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the main European championship, the Brazilian team, Bietigheim, beat the Danish Odense Handbold by 30 to 26. The match was at the MHP Arena Ludwigsburg, in Germany and, if the German team wins again away, next Sunday (05), they will advance to the semi-finals. In fact, they could even lose by three goals and still advance.

Gabi Moreschi showed off her magic again under the German goalposts. He had an important start, saving three shots out of five, as the team took an 8-2 lead. In total, there were 36 shots and the Brazilian saved 11, which gives a success rate of 30.56%. By way of comparison, the two opposing goalkeepers saved 12 out of 42 goals (28.57%). This is because there was a relay between the Dutch and the Danish. On the other hand, Gabi played for her team throughout the entire match.
