Director Wes Ball talked about this upcoming film, which he is directing for Nintendo.

Wes Ball (Maze Runner) is the big name behind the newest installment in the Planet of the Apes franchise. The Reign is a direct sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), and promises to cause a twist, by promoting a time jump of centuries and introducing characters who will try to subvert classic rules of the saga.

However, the director’s next notable project is already in development. And even though it is something very different from what we will soon find in theaters, with Planet of the Apes: Reign, Wess Ball himself guarantees that it is something “very special”. We’re talking about the film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, the famous Nintendo game.

To the website CBRWess Ball declared that he was very excited about the project: “I’m very excited and happy to be a part of this. Basically, it’s been a dream [de toda a vida] for me… being part of a Legend of Zelda movie. It’s incredible. So let’s work hard and do something special.”

When asked about the current status of the project, the director did not want to give away much information, and was more eager to check out the results of Planet of the Apes – The Reign in theaters: “No comments. Let me finish [Planeta dos Macacos: O Reinado] First… I have to see how this movie ends and then I can take a look at the next big giant franchise.” said Wess Ball (Via: CBR).

Although The Legend of Zelda is not yet scheduled to be released in theaters, Planet of the Apes: Reign opens on May 9th.
