Abel Ferreira completes 250 games in charge of Palmeiras

This Wednesday, Palmeiras finished preparing to face Botafogo-SP, next Thursday, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Allianz Parque, in the first leg of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil.

The players started the day with muscle activation at the Football Academy. Soon after, with the help of stakes, they perfected triangulations, play constructions, crossings and submissions. Afterwards, there was a recreation and, finally, finals.

Coach Abel Ferreira should save some starters for the clash, and one of the new players could be Zé Rafael. The steering wheel has recovered from the low back pain that took him out of action for almost a month. Dudu and Bruno Rodrigues continue to recover from their injuries.

Veiga should be one of those spared due to fatigue from too many games. The player was cited by the coach as one of the most worn out athletes.

In this way, a likely Palmeiras has: Weverton; Mayke, Luan (Gustavo Gómez), Murilo and Vanderlan (Piquerez); Aníbal Moreno, Richard Ríos (Zé Rafael), Luis Guilherme; Estêvão, Rony (Endrick or Lázaro) and López.

Verdão is looking to start ahead at home for a place in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. The return game will be on May 23rd, at 7pm, in Ribeirão Preto.

– It’s a very difficult game. We have already played against them at Paulista and we know that they are a very difficult team to play against. We will now play at home, counting on the support of our fans so that we can come away with a great result in our favor – said Luis Guilherme.

– It is always important to play at home, even more so with the support of our fans, who always encourage us from the beginning to the end. Tomorrow (Thursday) will certainly be no different and support will be essential for us to emerge victorious – he added.
