This May 1st, Workers’ Day, teachers and technical-administrative employees on strike, together with students, are promoting a unified act due to the strike in federal education.

Among the essential demands are the end of cuts in education, the defense of the budgetary restructuring of federal universities, the guarantee of constitutional floors for education and health, the recognition of the importance of the career of administrative technicians in education and teachers, in addition to the revocation of the New Secondary Education and the defense of teaching degrees.

The movement also takes a stand against privatizations in universities and in favor of the rights of outsourced workers. The rejection of precariousness and the demand for work with rights are fundamental pillars for the category, including the repeal of labor and social security counter-reforms.

The gathering began at 2pm, at Praça Santos Andrade, in the center of Curitiba. The protesters continue on a march to the Rose Nunes Women’s Reference House, in support of the maintenance of the occupation and against the repossession measure, and then march along Marechal Deodoro da Fonseca to Boca Maldita, on Rua XV .
