The investment in a residential solar energy system pays off faster in Mato Grosso, Alagoas and Piauí. The information comes from a survey by the Greener consultancy, which estimated the payback time for installing photovoltaic panels in each Brazilian state.
In Mato Grosso, the average is 2.6 years for “payback” – the time for return on investment. In Alagoas and Piauí, 2.7 years. Ceará and Pará come next, with a period of approximately 2.8 years.
At the other end of the list, in the states of Amapá, Paraná and Roraima, the investment in residential solar energy takes more than four years to bear fruit. In Santa Catarina, more than five years.
Greener’s survey considers 4 kWp, low voltage residential systems. In the calculation, construction time, start of operation, tariff adjustments and equipment prices were considered.
On the Brazilian average, considering all states, there was a 25% reduction in payback between January 2023 and January 2024. In other words, the return on investment was faster.
The value of the residential low voltage system fell from R$4.39/Wp to R$3.17/Wp in the period. As a result, the average price of a residential photovoltaic system went from R$17,560 at the beginning of last year to an average of R$12,680 this year.
