Rio – Australian fighter Steve Erceg used football to provoke Brazilian Alexandre Pantoja, his opponent in the fight for the flyweight belt, the main fight of UFC Rio, next Saturday (4), at Farmasi Arena. This Wednesday (1st), Erceg appeared at Media Day for the fight wearing the Botafogo shirt to poke fun at Pantoja, who supports Flamengo.

During the press conference, the Australian admitted that one of his intentions in wearing the black and white shirt was to provoke his rival, but highlighted that he has a lot of affection for Glorioso, the club he adopted in Brazil.

“I’m wearing the Botafogo shirt showing my support. Yes (I’m a Botafogo fan). That too (wearing the shirt because Pantoja is a Flamengo fan), but Botafogo invited me to their stadium and I’m returning that support,” said Steve Erceg.

Steve Erceg and Alexandre Pantoja will headline UFC 301. The event will also be marked by José Aldo’s farewell fight, who will face American Jonathan Martinez. The man from Manaus has emblematic victories fighting in Rio.
